SOS: A Miami Story

This is a recorded program; audio available 5/24/19

Miami is on the frontline of climate impacts in the United States. It now floods on sunny days and during full moons, bubbling up the shower drains of some of the city's low-lying residents. Little Haiti, a traditionally working-class immigrant community, is now highly desirable real estate, prompting concerns around gentrification and the displacement of long-time residents. Meanwhile, construction is beginning on what will be Miami's tallest skyscraper, and the city's waterfront development boom doesn't show signs of slowing.

Join us as we speak with Valencia Gunder, an advocate for Little Haiti; Jesse Keenan, a Harvard professor working with the city on solutions to handle rising waters; and Miami Mayor Frances Suarez on what he is doing to plan for a wet future.
