Entering the Building

The Club's headquarters at 110 The Embarcadero is accessible to people using wheelchairs or who have difficulty with mobility. There is also a button near the entrance to open the door for easy entrance.

Hearing Assistance

Thanks to a generous gift from a long-time Club member, we now have Hearing Loop technology in both of our auditoriums at 110 The Embarcadero in San Francisco.

What is a Hearing Loop? A Hearing Loop is a wire that circles a room and is connected to a sound system. The loop transmits the sound electromagnetically. The electromagnetic signal is then picked up by the telecoil in the hearing aid or cochlear implant.

To use a hearing loop, flip on the t-switch on your hearing aid or cochlear implant to activate the telecoil. (If you are unable to do this yourself, ask your audiologist.) Usually, no additional receiver or equipment is needed. Using a telecoil and hearing loop together is seamless, cost-effective, unobtrusive, and you don’t have to seek additional equipment.

The Club also has a second system available to visitors desiring hearing assistance. Headsets are available free of charge.

If you will be attending a Club program and would like a hearing assistance device, please contact our audio department several days in advance so we can be certain that we have enough devices available. Email mkirchner@commonwealthclub.org.
