Redefining Growth: Build It Green
Ed Mazria, Founder, Architecture 2030
Peter Calthorpe, Principal, Calthorpe Associates
David Assmann, Deputy Director, San Francisco Department of the Environment
Leslie Gueverra, Associate Editor, Greener World Media - Moderator
When it comes to pollution, it's easy to blame cars, but our buildings alone are responsible for nearly half of our nation's greenhouse gas emissions. That's why many people believe that successfully combating global climate change requires innovative land-use planning and structuring our cities to remove buildings as energy wasters. Mazria, the innovator behind the Architecture 2030 approach, has a plan for greener construction and better energy efficiency; renowned urban designer and architect Calthorpe has mapped out the strategies for most sustainable growth; and David grapples with the political implementation of these options to green our cities. Our speakers will give politicians, businesses and the average citizen tangible ways to join the mission of zero emissions.
