Rick Ridgeway: Climbing, Conservation and Capitalism
Rick Ridgeway estimates he’s spent a total of more than 5 years of his life sleeping in tents, often in the world’s most remote places alongside fellow outdoor adventure luminaries Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia) and Doug Tompkins (founder of The North Face). Ridgeway himself worked for Patagonia for 15 years and was behind the company’s infamous “Don’t Buy This Jacket” ad campaign, which paradoxically advocated sustainability and increased sales.
What is the role of corporations in conservation? And where is the line between greenwashing and truly green practices? Join us for a live conversation with one of the world's foremost mountaineers and former Patagonia vice president, Rick Ridgeway.
