In honor of Pride Month, we’re diving into our program archives throughout the month of June to highlight some of our staff favorites from the last few years. From Sally Ride, the first American woman to travel to space and a tireless advocate for women's involvement in STEM education, to Alicia Garza, the co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement, we’ve been honored to have LGBTQ leaders and trailblazers join us onstage over the years.

In late 2020, activist and author Alicia Garza joined us virtually to discuss her book The Purpose of Power: How We Come Together When We Fall Apart. A long-time Bay Area leader, Garza is one of the co-founders of the Black Lives Matter movement and remains a seminal leader in the effort to organize for racial justice. She joined us and Darnell Moore to detail lessons from her life working as a community organizer and what it takes to effectively mobilize people around the issues that matter the most, from climate justice to voter suppression.
