Humanities West Book Discussion: The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli
Join us for a discussion of The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli. Machiavelli cut his political teeth during the Renaissance, a time of intense hatred between Italian city-states. He was a man of action, and a devout patriot, who wrote The Prince to describe how a strong leader could unite Italy and put an end to the senseless conflict. But he was also such a realist in describing how princes actually ruled their city-states that his name became synonymous with offstage political intrigue. The discussion will be led by Lynn Harris.
